V Levels
V Levels are a new type of Level 3 vocational qualification. Teaching starts in September 2027 in the first three subject areas: Digital, Education and Early Years, and Finance and Accounting, with more following each year to 2030. They are designed to sit alongside A Levels and T Levels and will replace many BTECs. If you are in Year 11 now, you would be in the first group of students able to take one.
Who it's for
Students who want a vocational, work-related course but are not ready to commit to one job role. V Levels are planned to be smaller and more flexible than T Levels, so you could take one on its own, combine them, or mix one with A Levels.
Entry requirements
Not confirmed yet. As a Level 3 course, expect something close to A Levels and T Levels, typically around five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, often including English and maths. Schools and colleges will set their own.
Where it can lead
University, higher and degree apprenticeships, higher technical qualifications, or skilled employment, in the same way as A Levels and T Levels.
